SYNOPSIS
In a remote village in the mountains of Kurdistan, a lonely old mother is waiting for her son to return from military service. When there is no news from her son, the mother tries to find him but she discovers a secret which pushes her into a dilemma to deal with her son’s new identity.
Director Biography
Saman Hosseinpuor was born in Kurdistan, Iran, in 1993. He is a Kurdish Iranian writer and director with more than ten short films to his name. His work has been recognized and awarded at over a hundred film festivals, including the Telluride Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Zlín International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival and Red Sea International Film Festival. He is an alumnus of the Asian Film Academy and Berlinale Talents. Hosseinpuor holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in cinema and is a fellow of the Busan Asian Film School. His films primarily focus on Kurdish culture, particularly the experiences of Kurdish people in Iran. Additionally, Saman Hosseinpuor is an official member of the Iranian Short Film Association and an alumnus of the Naff Fantastic Film School Bifan.
Director's Statement
Life of LGBTQ In Iran is under too much pressure just like many other countries and the fact that they cannot express their emotions and their existence is really heartbreaking , with this film I tried to show a tiny small part of their life in Kurdistan, Iran.
